Do guys like when a girl plays hard to get?

So this guy, Todd I kind of have a crush on him and he has been flirting with me back. but i recently got accepted into an school that's a couple hours away. he has been distant since i told him. and he was supposed to hang out with last satuarday, and me and my friend stacy called him at 8 and he said he was leaving his basketball game and he would call us when he was ready for us to come get him., and then he never called back so we left. what does this mean? has he lost interest?
