Which of the Greek Philosophers/Scientist fought the same spiritual battle as The Great Physician, yet lost?

Despite the appearance of the word, there is no science in this 'question'. We have no evidence that Jesus ever said anything about science. Even in the ancient bios narratives of the gospels, his teachings were consistent with Jewish Pharisees of (generally) the school of Hillel. From all accounts, science was the farthest thing from his mind.
