I've never had freckles so i wouldn't know but do people?

i've never had freckles so i wouldn't know but do people who have freckles always have freckles? are they for life, like a birthmark? they never go away? or do they go away eventually?..... i look at Morgan Freeman in a film recently, he has freckles in all his film...and so does Kate from us tv show 'Lost'
